So today I was expecting a gain of about 3 pounds since I had gained about 4 over the Memorial Day weekend and according to the Wii had only taken about a pound back off. Well my official weigh in has me up 1.6 pounds - I'm good with that!
I rode my bike into weight watchers again - it was a harder ride this time because the whole way down I was riding into the wind. I still got there in the same time, but my body was working way harder! I know without the wind I would have gotten there in a faster time!
So to sum up my morning - a weigh in of 186.0 and 5 activity points earned!

The all mighty Wii....
So the Wii says I'm up another .7 this morning for a total gain from the weekend at 4 pounds. I know it will come back off - I will not let it stay with me, the question is how long will this extra baggage be with me? I just need to get by butt back in gear. I stopped by the grocery store on the way home so now we have food in the house and I can make a healthy lunch (yesterday since we had no food I had to grab lunch and ended up at McDonalds (made a good choice while there - but could have went somewhere else and made a better choice). I'm thinking it is also time to tweak my workout schedule - I ususally run after work, but the temps here have been approaching 100 and I'm worried about the heat. I may have to put my treadmill to use more which I don't mind so much, I just prefer to run outside.

Stop putting off the post will you??
So we came home from the Jazz fest late Monday afternoon and I have started this post several times, but never hit "publish". Things did not go exactly how I had planned them - and I kept telling my self "no guilt" but I have yet to convince myself of that...
First I didn't run at all - we did sooo much walking though - hubby was wearing a pedometer and here are the mileage counts if 2000 steps = one mile
10 miles on Friday
8 miles on Saturday
6.5 miles on Sunday
6 miles on Monday
Secondly my food choices were horrible - we ate fried, cheesy, chocolaty and even walked 2.4 miles round trip to go to a place late one night that had nothing but desserts....
My breakfast bread I took with me? Well there was no microwave and cold pumpkin bread with peanut butter on it tasted horrible. We did pretty much only stick to two meals, but of course that left my metabolism doing lord knows what and my water intake was almost non-existent due to downtown's ban on any sports bottles I couldn't carry my water bottle with me (cracking down on alcohol laws).
So the Wii says I'm up around 3 pounds and I know I can take it off, I just don't know how quickly I can take it off. I think some of it should come off pretty quickly as soon as I balance out the water and get rid of the extra salt I'm holding onto.
So again I'm sitting here telling myself - no guilt - you make the decision to have a great time, enjoy yourself and not worry about it. Now to just make myself believe it and get my butt back in gear and get the extra back off!

A Running Quote...
I got this in my email this morning...
"Running is a statement to society. It is saying 'no' to always being on call, to sacrificing our daily runs for others' needs. When we run we are doing something for ourselves."
Phoebe Jones, runner
The word "Running" could be replaced with so many things and this quote is still true.
taking care of your self
walking
working out
eating right
pampering yourself
We all really need to do more for ourselves - we are worth it, we deserve it, we want it and we will do it!!
So this Memorial Day weekend do something for yourself - I am taking my running gear and I'm going to get at least one run in maybe two (depending on how much other activity I get) from our hotel room at the Sacramento Jazz festival! We will be right by the capital and the rose garden and I think it will be a lovely place to recharge my batteries!
Trust me on this one, it will feel great! Do something for yourself and let me know what you did! I would love to hear all about it!!
See you all on Tuesday!!

Weigh in Day!
So today I woke up early (like I always do now - I'm just a morning person now I guess!). I was sitting here on the computer and I thought to my self - "Self - you could totally ride your bike to Weight Watchers this morning!" So I check out map my ride and see how far it is and it is just over 6 miles and I'm thinking I can totally do this. I need to eat a little something though and it is already HOT here so I know I have to drink water on the way - but I already know I'm going to have a gain, so what better day to do it?? I wake up hubby and tell him of my plan and he checks out my bike and makes sure the tires are good and off I go! It ends up being a little over 6.5 miles and takes me just a little over half an hour - I wasn't nervous about riding the distance - I was worried about the traffic, but that time of the morning it isn't bad. My wonderful hubby picked me up after the meeting since I thought 12+ miles would have been too ambitious and the traffic is worse after the meeting and it had only gotten hotter while I was in the meeting!
So my weigh in? I'm up .4 - I'm so totally OK with that - consider the fact that I tracked every point I ate this week and the dinner we had on Wednesday used all my remaining flex points AND all my earned activity points and I had a big fat RED negative number for the week and didn't get rid of the negative number until after my run on Saturday and on Thursday I was up over 3 pounds. I think this is the first gain I have ever had that I was 100% OK with and I know the reason for it and I'm not looking back - I'm looking forward!

Saturday Summary!
So today I had a wonderful run - 5 miles - and it was the first first run since the parkway half that has felt good! I don't think I gave my body enough time to recover and then of course I did that strength training class on top of that so the past few runs have felt "awkward and not quite right" I don't know how else to explain it. I have new shoes and new insoles and I felt great today - I think my old shoes still have miles left in them, but the insoles don't.
I put on my new Nike shirt and shorts today and had hubby take a picture of me - you can see it on my sidebar over there -----> I love those shirts, they are super soft and the new one is the most amazing shade of purple and the matching shorts are so comfy and the don't ride up! It is my very first matching running outfit!
We stopped at the grocery store on the way home from the trail and picked up the ingredients for the zucchini lasagna that Angie had on her blog - we cooked it up and it will be my dinner tomorrow night as well as my lunches for the rest of the work week! I can't wait to try it!
The rest of the weekend will be busy packing for the Jazz festival next weekend and making sure I have snacks and everything I will need to make it a fun trip, but not stressful food wise. I don't mind splurging a bit, but not at every meal, so we have requested a fridge for the hotel room and plan on bringing snacks, breakfast (hubby's famous pumpkin bread with Better than PB) and 100 calorie bottles of chocolate milk for after my two runs I plan on getting in while there! Jazz fest is a big deal for us - hubby is a musician with Ophir Prison Band and it is a great holiday weekend for us every year!
I will update tomorrow morning with my weigh in (which I am expecting to be up and I'm OK with that since I splurged on Wednesday and dug myself a very big hole hat I didn't get out of until after the run today) - but there will be no weigh in next weekend. I will have the laptop though and might update after my runs - I will see how things go!
