5 months since I changed my life!

I walked into weight watchers on July 31st and I never thought that I would be where I am now. I have gone from everyone at McDonalds knowing my name and my order to everyone at the gym knowing my name. I have gone from a size 24 jeans to a size 18. I am stronger now than I have ever been. I have so much more energy. I have been told by people in my meeting that I am their inspiration to keep it up. I have inspired a good friend to start working out again. As a family we are doing more together and doing more outside activities. I have lowered my blood pressure and I don't get migraines as often. I have an awareness of what I eat, how much I eat and how it affects my body. I hear frequently that weight watchers is not a diet, but a lifestyle change and I truly believe that.

Thanks to the two leaders who signed me up even though they were about to leave because they knew if I left without signing up I wouldn't be back.

Thanks to Lori who keeps me inspired and motivated and provides support every Monday.

Thanks to Jeff (my hubby) who cooks wonderful healthy meals and makes sure that I have the time to spend on myself. Love you!!

20th Century Ghosts - Joe Hill

I loved his previous book "Heart Shaped Box" - this is a collection of short stories and there are some good ones and other that just kinda left me thinking - "what the heck was that about??"

Over all it was a good read though.

Book Description (from amazon.com)
Imogene is young and beautiful. She kisses like a movie star and knows everything about every film ever made. She's also dead and waiting in the Rosebud Theater for Alec Sheldon one afternoon in 1945. . . .

Arthur Roth is a lonely kid with big ideas and a gift for attracting abuse. It isn't easy to make friends when you're the only inflatable boy in town. . . .

Francis is unhappy. Francis was human once, but that was then. Now he's an eight-foot-tall locust and everyone in Calliphora will tremble when they hear him sing. . . .

John Finney is locked in a basement that's stained with the blood of half a dozen other murdered children. In the cellar with him is an antique telephone, long since disconnected, but which rings at night with calls from the dead. . . .

Week 22 weigh in.

I gained .6 - let me say that again slowly so I really understand it - I - Gained - .6

I don't understand - I worked my butt off at the gym, I journaled everything I ate - I only used 1 of my flex points and I earned tons of excercise points and didn't use any of those. The only thing that my leader said that maybe my body held on to water and I didn't eat enough to counter act the excercise. I worked out 6 days last week. I'm very dissapointed and bummed right now. I went to the gym after weighing in and my shoe broke. This just hasn't been my day. I now need to find a comfy pair of shoes to replace these for my workouts.

Week 19 weigh in - AKA I DID IT!!!

I made my 10% weight loss today!!! I'm so excited and so proud of myself!!! I lost 1.6 pounds today for a total weight loss of 26.7 pounds in 19 weeks. I got a 10% award from weight watchers - a beautiful keychain! I also now get to reward myself with my very hip new bag! It is the overland equipment company's Donner bag. I got a green color and it is so pretty! I can't wait to load it up with all my stuff!!

I can hardly believe how far I have come. Sometimes I find it hard to believe that I have done all this. I have a huge support system, but I have done most of the work myself and I feel great! I have a lot more energy and I feel great about myself. Oh and today was my birthday! To make 10% on my birthday was just the most perfect gift that I could ever give myself.

Week 18 weigh in.

I stayed the same - I was really excited to possibly get my 10% award, but oh well, not this week. I am worried about next weeks weigh in already - I'm going to Reno and I know I will have a challenge eating there. I'm taking snacks with me in hopes that I won't over do it. I got my very pretty gym bag in the mail on tueday, it is so nice! I can't wait to use it! I got this bag - in black and pink ....

It is an Overland Equipment Bag - they are made in Chico CA, not too far from where I'm at and very well made. My 10% reward is another bag from them, to use as a purse, but it is sitting in my bedroom taunting me until I make my 10%.
I have an appointment with a trainer at the gym on Saturday - I'm very excited about that - I hope to learn how to make the most out of my workouts and use the equipment effectively.

November 24

Yesterday was my younger sons birthday - he turned 8. It almost doesn't seem possible! We had a wonderful day, spent shopping, eating and playing. It started with the Santa parade where he got to carry the banner for his daddys band. After walking the parade route he was hungry so we headed towards Red Robin where we met up with my parents and had lunch. We played miniture golf at an indoor place where it is black light golf. We went to the Disney outlet store, Target, Toys R Us, Wal Mart, and Circuit City (To see his big brother) We ended with eating Dinner at McDonalds on my older sons lunch break so we all ate together. It was such a wonderful day! Happy Birthday Logan!! I'm glad you had a wonderful day!!

Week 17 weigh in!

I lost 2.6 pounds this week! I am shocked! Don't get me wrong, I was on program all week, but 2.6 pounds is a lot in one week! I am now down 25.1 pounds I got two awards one is a little washer looking thing that says 25 pounds and the other is this magnet...

I am now only .9 away from my 10% and I will get a 10% keychain. I am hoping to do that at the next meeting.

Week 16 weigh in!

This week went very well. I stuck to my workout plan and I dropped 1.4 pounds! I'm now down a total of 22.5 pounds! At the meeting I also got my 16 week charm! It is so pretty and a reminder of my hard work and the fact that I have stuck to it. This is what it looks like....
(this is not my actual one, but a photo of someone elses I found on the net, but mine looks the same)

I have also almost caught up watching the biggest loser that we had DVR'd - I have decided I want a workout shirt like the one Julie wears - it says "To finish what I've started, for once." What an inspiration those people are!

A belated Halloween Post.

We had a very nice time on Halloween - despite me not feeling well. We went over to my parents house (A holiday tradition), Both my boys were there and we were joined by Matts girlfriend Jess. Jeff took Logan around the neighborhood which wasn't very busy at all and we just sat around a had a great time. Here is a picture of my little pirate. The costume was ALL his idea and mostly homemade and picked out by him. I did have to buy the sword, gun and hook. He wouldn't smile in the picture because you know pirates don't smile.

Week 15 weigh in!

I lost another 1.2 pounds - for a total of 21.1 pounds lost so far! I was very happy with myself - I ate out 4 times last week!

I also started working out - I walked about 20 mintues today on the treadmill. I probably could have done a little more, but I think I started out too fast and got tired quickly. I'm planning on doing the treadmill 3 times a week and resistance training three times a week and take Mondays off from working out - it is my late day at wokr and my weigh in day, so I have a lot on my plate on Mondays.

Book Review - The Abduction - Mark Gimenez

Book Description From Amazon - Ben Brice lives alone in the New Mexico wilderness where he battles memories of Vietnam with oceans of Jim Beam. Miles away in Texas, his estranged son, John, an Internet geek-turned-billionaire, half watches his daughter Gracie's soccer game while conducting business on his cell phone. When her mother Elizabeth arrives, the coach reports that her uncle has already collected Gracie. But Gracie has no uncle--she was kidnapped.
From international best-selling author Mark Gimenez comes a terrifying thriller in which dark family secrets make the finding of ten-year-old Gracie Brice more uncertain with every passing minute. And so begins a furious race against time to save Gracie from unknown kidnappers. With the FBI camped out in the Brice mansion, the family offers a reward of $25 million. Somehow, Ben and John Brice must find Gracie before it is too late. As the story unfolds with riveting twists and turns, the reader discovers that behind the kidnapping is an extraordinary government plot that could change the course of American history. And time is running out....

This was a pretty good book with lots of twists and turns - sometimes hard to keep up with though. Overall I really liked the story and I would definitely read this author again. Well written!

Sacramento Public Library's Birthday!

The library system I work for celebrated it's 150th birthday on October 20th and 21st. I had volunteered to work a shift and ran the "Green Room" where all the performers and such checked in and warmed up. Jeff and Logan came with me, to partake in the days activities. We ended up without a person to play Curious George and I volunteered my husband. He actually didn't seem to mind it and I think he might have had a good time.

Here is the three of us!

Weight Watchers Update

So since I haven't posted on the blog about weight watchers I guess I should do that first.

13 Weeks ago I joined weight watchers and started to change not only my eating habits, but my life. As of mondays weigh in I am down 17.9 pounds. I am down three pants sizes and have lost inches just about everywhere and I feel so much healthier! I have the greatest support system and my wonderful hubby is currently on program with me as well - he has lost weight, inches in his waist and feels healthier as well. It's pretty much a win-win situation!

Book Review - Promise not to Tell - Jennifer Mcmahon

This was a great book - kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Part mystery, Part ghost story. Promise not to tell is the story of a woman who goes back to the town she grew up in to take care of her mom who s in failing health - there is a murder of a young girl and the situation is much like the muder of her childhood friend many years ago.

Promise not to Tell was my kind of book - It reminded me of the ghost stories that I used to read when I was younger.

I have a blog!

Welcome to my blog! I didn't want to be left out and be the only one on my block without one. I am hoping to use my blog to write about my daily life and my hobbies and such.

I know I will be writing about my weight loss journey, the books I read and other assorted things that come up in my life.

Hopefully my future posts will be more exciting than this one!
