Cinderella is Proof!

A new pair of shoes can change your life!

These are the shoes that changed mine...

I was told to go out and buy a good pair of shoes, have them fitted by professionals and expect to spend at least 100 dollars on them, but it would be worth it since if I wanted to run, my feet were my tools. At the time of purchase I was only working out at the gym and running (if you could call it that) on the treadmill.

I went to my local Fleet Feet and went through the fitting process, they introduced me to synthetic socks that were heaven (but 12 dollars a pair!) and placed these babies on my feet. It was just like walking on clouds!! Then the nice guy says - "Go ahead and take them for a run on the sidewalk outside."

My reply to him was "Oh no - you don't understand these are my GYM shoes - they don't go outside - they are only for the gym..." He wasn't convinced, but I ended up just doing laps in the store to make sure they felt OK. So after I bought the new shoes Fleet Feet told me about the season of SacFit coming up and I joined. I ended up wearing my very pretty, still white shoes out on the trail and now they prefer to be out on the trail (at least the new version of them does - I have had to replace them and now have the new and improved 859's) I have kept my first pair of running shoes to remind me how far I have come, they sit in the closet all brown and gunky looking. They were with me at my first 5K, my First 10 mile race and my first half marathon. They helped me acheive things I never though I would have.

Oh I love new balence runners! I think that is so great that you are keeping your old runners, for sentimental reasons!

I'm a New Balance girl too and your newbies are NICE! I still am wearing my first pair and once I hit 50lbs lost I'm getting a new pair. That's going to be my gift to myself. I too went to the locally owned running store and the guys were so helpful and I bought a pair of stability shoes when I swore I needed cushioning. I also thought I turned to the outside of my foot when I was really turning in. It's amazing how off I was. But he watched me run and saw what I was really doing vs what I thought I was doing.

Congrats on the new shoes. You deserve them!
